We all know Google has become a verb. We all know Google is a data monster, able to spit out knowledge on any topic rapidly and with fair precision. We all know we Google what we don’t know – in order to find out about it. But with all that understood – and rarely do I hear people disagree….I can never understand why people don’t put more stock in how well they Google. Do they, in fact, give good Google? And if they don’t – why should they care?
Well, let’s see….
If you are being sought after for a new sales account, a new job, by a new date, or an old business partner….if you are being looked for by a former teacher or pupil, an old colleague or a childhood friend…you could miss out.
If you are a college student seeking an internship, or a job coming out of school, you could use some good Google. If you are a high school pupil applying to colleges – the slightest edge could put you over the top – and the slightest misstep could pull you off the edge
(are you SURE there isn’t information out there that could lead to bad or embarrassing – or even incorrect assumption Google results?)
If you’re a parent of one of those students in the aforementioned paragraph – you just spent lots of money to put them through school – or are about to. So, wouldn’t it make sense to do all you could to help position them at the top – and let them show the world who they are – and make the best first e-Impression?
Folks, giving good Google applies to everyone out there. Being found – and controlling what information people find to some degree – is very important. Take care of your personal brand – understand you deserve to be on top – and be sure you give good Google.
