You’re Good Enough, You’re Smart Enough, and Doggone it, People Want to Find You!

When it comes to online branding, there are so many people I speak to who say – “but I haven’t done anything worth bragging about yet.”  Or “the day I get the new job, the promotion, the haircut,” or whatever else they feel they need, “I’ll do it – I’ll begin my personal brand.”  What those folks don’t realize is they have already begun a personal brand – and it isn’t one they would choose for themselves if they thought harder about it.

Whether or not you’ve done something of note, no matter if you are a C-Level Executive or an up and coming entrepreneur, a recent graduate, a student or an experienced veteran – we all have a personal brand that exists.  Yes, it takes a little work to sometimes articulate it – but it is worth it.  You also need to position it carefully online – so people can find you, the real you – in the way they are hoping to.  Not taking action right now says more negative things about your personal brand than anything else you could potentially do.  Placing yourself atop the list and positioning well is paramount in importance.  Everyone has something to say to the right other person, something that will be important in landing the next job, opening the next door and making the next upward career move.

It is OK to be GREAT (like everyone else!), but you do need to be POPULAR!

You’ve made a great point, Andy.

Career satisfaction and growth come sooner to those who identify, refine, and nurture their key brand attributes early on.

Getting feedback from those around you is by far the best way to measure and validate your brand and the unique value you offer.

These are the compelling characteristics about you that, when honored (online and in real-life) and relied upon, lead to a thriving worklife.
