The Keys to Google’s Kingdom Part IV

Interconnectivity – what does it help to link to? – how this works as the “triangulation” of data.

Ever since the beginning of search on the internet (can you believe that this fall, Google will ONLY be 10 years old?) – the idea of connecting to other sites via hyperlinks has been a cornerstone of search algorithms.  However, in those starting days, you relied on simply linking to someone else’s site.  Then it expanded to add “weight” if that same site reciprocated (hence, the term “reciprocal links.”)  A few years ago, the push for interconnectivity got more intense and more involved.  Now, to gain the most relevance, you have to have a triangulation of data.  This sounds potentially complicated, but it is not.  Here’s what it means to you in an example:

-  You have your website with your company’s offerings, your bio and more

-  You have your QAlias site with your bio, bulletins and business cards

-  There is other material online you are responsible for – articles, podcasts, blogs entries, other info

Now, what you can do to help yourself take over the first pages of Google is to interconnect each of these pieces.  Add a signature footer to your articles and blog entries that links to your QAlias profile and your website.  Link from your website to those articles and entries, as well as to your QAlias profile.  Link from your QAlias profile to the main website as well as to those articles and blog entries.  This makes a “triangle” – and is what is called “triangulation of data.”

Learn to master the pyramid and triangulate your data and you can own a few pages of Google for your personal brand.  It can only help your credibility, your referability and your finadability.
